Auckland’s two biggest infrastructure projects have been granted exemptions to continue critical work during lockdown.City Rail Link (CRL) chief executive Sean Sweeney said the $4.4 billion project had received permission from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) to operate its tunnel boring machine at a reduced level.“The government ‘OK’ is a very welcome one giving us the assurance that a potential lockdown risk underground has been removed,” he said in a statement.
