The company behind the City Rail Link (CRL) is playing down its use of incentive payments to get property owners to agree to compensation faster.The government-council entity tasked with delivering the $4.4 billion CRL has to date made 39 incentive payments totalling $814,400 as part of the $13.6 million it has paid to compensate owners for drilling under their properties. Property law principles mean owners’ rights are over everything from their plot of land to the core of the earth and the sky above. This means the council has...
