It is increasingly likely the owners of the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter will look to increase production in the short term and extend its life beyond 2024, according to an analysts' report.Forsyth Barr analysts Andrew Harvey-Green and Mark Robertson said aluminium prices closed June 2021 on a new high of $3,600/tonne.The only time in the last 20 years aluminium prices have been higher was the two years leading into the global financial crisis.The analysts estimated New Zealand Aluminium Smelters' earnings are currently close to $1,700...
