As businesses across the country teetered on the edge of financial collapse during the level 4 lockdown, thousands of new companies were being registered at the New Zealand Companies Office.In the 18 workdays between March 26 and April 23, 4,247 names were listed – 2,831 registrations and 1,416 reserved names, mainly by New Zealanders but also foreigners from Australia, the UK, the US, Singapore and Hong Kong.Auckland had the most addresses for new companies (1,164) in the lockdown period, followed by Christchurch (220) but companies&rsqu...
