Fears of a major gas shortage over the coming winter have eased, though demand reduction will still be needed to match supply.This could mean that large gas users, such as methanol producer Methanex, may have to cut production again.Work done by Concept Consulting for the gas sector regulator – the Gas Industry Company – updates a report from last year which sounded alarm bells across the energy sector.The 2021 report warned that energy prices could soar due to a gas shortfall.
