Mercury Capital buys Bauer’s Australasian magazines

Mercury Capital has bought Bauer Media’s unwanted trans-Tasman magazine portfolio, according to Australian media reports.The German publisher confirmed the sale, without disclosing the price, after the Australian Financial Review’s Street Talk column reported that the private equity firm wrapped up the deal for less than A$50 million.The deal includes Pacific Magazines, which Bauer bought last month from Seven West Media.“Bauer Media remains committed to magazine publishing.
