Freightways beefs up chilled food with $10m purchase

Listed express package firm Freightways has added to its chilled food delivery fleet with the purchase of ProducePronto for $10 million.Auckland-based ProducePronto was founded in 2011 and operates 20 temperature-controlled vehicles for both fresh and frozen food delivery. It employs 41 staff across its Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch depots and last year generated sales of $16m, with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of $1.6m.Freightways chief executive Mark Troughear said the business will complement the...
