Delta lockdowns did not stem the tide of new residential consents last month with 4,490 approvals – the highest monthly level since at least 1990.Stats NZ said this pushed the number of new homes consented for the year to 46,453, up 24% from the August 2020 year, with a value of $19.7 billion, easily the highest level on record.Construction statistics manager Michael Heslop said there was a 34% increase in new home numbers in Auckland to 19,929 over the past 12 months.
