NZME has signed a letter of intent to join Google’s News Showcase service in New Zealand, a move that will see the group withdraw from a collective bargaining effort against the search engine giant.In a statement to the NZX this morning, NZME, the owner of the NZ Herald and BusinessDesk, said it was in discussions over a deal to provide content to the US tech giant’s NZ news platform.Google would pay NZME to feature select stories on its Showcase platform, with NZME providing content that would be available for free on Google News a...
