Ability to invest in derivatives

The Board of Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust PLC (the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has authorised the investment managers to invest in equity options and equity Contracts for Difference which will enable more flexibility and potentially lower costs in managing the portfolio's geared exposure to equities.

Some minor changes have been made to the Company's investment policy which do not require approval by shareholders. The revised investment policy is published on the Company's website www.temit.co.uk.
