Climate change activist Mike Smith has dropped Channel Infrastructure from his major litigation against the country's biggest emitters.
The climate change suit was launched against Channel in 2019 when it was formerly Refining NZ, alongside other major corporates including Fonterra, Genesis Energy, NZ Steel and Z Energy.
Channel hasreduced its emissions by more than 98% since then because it only imports and no longer refines fuel.
The NZX-listed firm said today the case against it had been dropped.
“The claimant has discontinued his claim against Channel Infrastructure, on the basis that neither party will seek an order for costs, with the effect that the proceedings insofar as they relate to Channel Infrastructure are now at an end.”
