Employment confidence falls to 16-year low

New Zealanders’ confidence in the labour market has fallen to the lowest level since Westpac-McDermott Miller's employment confidence index began recording in 2004.  The index fell to 87.3 in June, down almost 13 points from March, covering the period in which the country went through various phases of lockdown in response to the covid-19 pandemic. A score above 100 shows more optimism than pessimism.
