Better-than-expected investment performance by the New Zealand Superannuation Fund has provided some breathing room in the Government’s otherwise deteriorating fiscal outlook.The Half Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (Hyefu) said that contributions to the fund would be reduced by $2.1 billion over the next five years.This would largely “offset” an additional $2.2b in additional capital investments announced in the Hyefu.Government contributions to the NZ Super Fund are determined using a complex formula.Government contribution...
