New Zealand’s manufacturing sector expanded in January for the first time in 23 months, according to the BNZ – BusinessNZ Performance of Manufacturing Index (PMI).The seasonally adjusted PMI for January was 51.4, up from 46.2 in December and the highest level of expansion since September 2022.Anything above 50 indicates that manufacturing is generally expanding.The January result was still below the average of 52.5 since the survey began.BusinessNZ's director of advocacy, Catherine Beard, said that after the longest period of co...
