The US’ relatively small trade deficit with New Zealand has so far helped keep NZ food and agri exports off the US trade tariff “wheel of misfortune”, but the threat remains, said Rabobank general manager Australia and New Zealand Stefan Vogel.The US trade deficit with NZ was just over US$1 billion (NZ$1.76b) for the period from January to November 2024, while the value of NZ exports to the US was roughly 25% higher than for US imports heading this way, he said in a report.“The US’ immediate focus has been on other...
