The Official Cash Rate is unlikely to fall further, but the monetary policy committee has retained “full optionality,” outgoing Reserve Bank of New Zealand Governor Christian Hawkesby says. The Reserve Bank of NZ (RBNZ) cut the Official Cash Rate (OCR) by 25 basis points to 2.25% on Wednesday. “The central projection would be consistent with the OCR being on hold through the course of 2026,” Hawkesby said.The OCR has fallen from 5.50% in mid-2024.While “it is more likely than not that today’s cut wa...
