Annual inflation is hovering just below the mid-point of the central bank’s target range, which economists say gives it plenty of time to watch and wait. The consumer price index increased 0.5 percent in the December quarter bringing the annual rate of inflation to 1.9 percent, Stats NZ said.Economists had forecast 0.4 percent and 1.8 percent respectively, while the central bank had tipped 0.2 percent and annual inflation of 1.6 percent.The central bank has a dual mandate to support maximum sustainable employment and keep annual inflation...
