When New Zealand's population ticked past the 5 million mark this year, it represented a 17 percent increase in just a decade – an extra 650,000 people since 2010.As the population has grown, the growth rate for housing stock has not kept pace. In the 10 years from June 2010 to June 2020, the national housing stock grew by 12.5 percent – a significant increase, but still far below the rate of population growth.There are 216,700 more houses in New Zealand now than a decade ago, but for the ratio of houses to people to remain...
