It is time for the talks over the future of the Tiwai Pt aluminium smelter to end and get a deal settled, Contact Energy chief executive Mike Fuge says.Speaking at the company’s annual meeting in Wellington on Wednesday, Fuge and chair Rob McDonald addressed some of the uncertainties hanging over the sector.These included the future of the smelter, handling the transition away from gas, and government policy.The smelter is the country’s single largest electricity user and its current supply contract ends at the end of 2024.Talks wit...
