The electricity sector should be using Methanex’s gas now as it makes no sense to export cheap energy and import expensive coal to cover the energy shortage, says Nova Energy chief executive Babu Bahirathan.Nova is part of the Todd family’s energy business and one of the largest gas companies in New Zealand.Bahirathan said the country was already facing very high wholesale electricity prices as hydro lakes remain low and gas supplies uncertain.It made no sense to be exporting gas in the form of methanol, producing methanol for about...
