A proposed upgrade of Te Rere Hau windfarm near Palmerston North has been granted a fast-track consent process.The work would result in NZ Windfarms replacing its 97 existing two-blade, 47-metre-high turbines with 30 new three-blade, 162-metre-high turbines.The site is currently capable of producing 48.5 megawatts per annum, using turbines developed by Christchurch wind energy pioneer Windflow Technology, which went into liquidation in 2019.There is an existing consent allowing for a further 56 turbines on the Manawatu skyline, but NZ Windfarms...
