House buyers face bank-imposed credit crunch

Would-be house buyers are facing a credit crunch even as many have already pulled out of the market, according to economist Tony Alexander's latest survey of mortgage brokers.A net 93% of the 86 respondents reported that lenders are less willing to advance funds while a net 75% reported seeing fewer first-home buyers and a net 70% reported seeing fewer investors.Just six of the brokers felt lender willingness to lend was unchanged compared to a month ago, and none thought willingness had improved, which Alexander said "provides justifi...
