Small gains from lifting mortgage curbs worth it – RBNZ

The Reserve Bank expects the 12-month suspension on mortgage lending restrictions will encourage banks to let borrowers defer repayments if needed. The central bank is pressing ahead with plans to suspend its limits on high loan-to-value house lending after also considering easing the restrictions or creating hardship exemptions.
