Fonterra won't accept a New Zealand trade deal with India without dairy

The government appears to be open to the idea of striking a free trade agreement with India which excludes dairy, but Fonterra is not on board. Fonterra general manager trade strategy Justine Arroll said it “wouldn’t be acceptable” to the co-operative if dairy was left out of a trade agreement - even an interim one. “From our perspective, we wouldn’t accept an agreement with India that didn’t include dairy or didn’t substantially or commercially meaningfully accept dairy.”Arroll said Fon...
