Queenstown’s famous gondolas have been carrying visitors up to Bob’s Peak, New Zealand’s most visited attraction, since 1987. As of Sunday, their jobs are done. And, having served their purpose – ferrying more than 800,000 visitors a year for almost four decades – the four-seaters are being replaced with new 10-seat Doppelmayr units made in Austria.It's all part of Skyline Enterprises’ $250 million upgrade to its flagship Queenstown hillside asset.The first chunk of work, from early May, will include...
