Lyttelton Port is blaming congestion problems and a 20% decline in ship visits on delays in Auckland but Ports of Auckland says it is only part of the problem and much of the delays are further up the supply chain.Lyttelton's container operations general manager Simon Munt said ships carrying imports are leaving Ports of Auckland 10 to 12 days behind schedule, and "it means they don't have time to call at Lyttelton" — hence the drop in ship visits.Because Auckland is closer to the nation's densest population, most sh...
