Northport dry dock decisions await

The incoming government can now decide whether to go ahead with a dry dock in Northland.The latest business case analysing the project has been delivered to the associate transport minister. NZ First strongly supports the proposal, which would mean large New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) vessels and KiwiRail Interislander ferries unable to be serviced at Devonport could be maintained in NZ, avoiding costly visits to dry docks in Australia and Singapore.As BusinessDesk revealed in 2021, KiwiRail spent $74 million sending its ferries offshore...
