The New Zealand Transport Agency will pay another $208.5 million to make sure the Transmission Gully highway north of Wellington opens next year, taking the total cost to $1.25 billion. And if the CPB Contractors and HEB Construction joint venture can’t meet the Sept. 27, 2021 deadline, they will face penalties of $250,000 of liquidated damages for every day overdue.
