The Court of Appeal has allowed catering workers to proceed with an appeal over minimum wage entitlements.The Employment Court ruled aviation catering firm Gate Gourmet did not breach the Minimum Wage Act when it decided not to compensate workers who were at home and able to work, but were not called on during the first covid-19 lockdown.The hearing in October 2020 included submissions from the NZ Council of Trade Unions and Business NZ, which were invited to participate due to the high public interest in the case.In January 2021, two employmen...
