A proposed law restricting restraint of trade clauses in employment contracts goes too far and is probably unnecessary, according to employment lawyer Sherridan Cook.The Buddle Findlay partner said the law change was a blunt instrument and “unduly restrictive”.The Employment Relations (Restraint of Trade) Amendment Bill was drawn from the members’ ballot last week.
