(Updated with Foodstuffs' comment in 21 paragraph onwards).  Auckland Council’s plans to introduce a local alcohol policy have been thwarted again by the major supermarkets, which have won a judicial review.  The supermarkets have successfully argued that a previous ruling on the council’s restrictions around hours of sale and future licenses lumped grocery stores in with bottle shops, which was unlawful.  The decision is the latest in a long fight the council and medical officers have had with businesses after the Sale of Alcohol Act...
