Virgin Australia shutting NZ bases, 550 jobs gone

Virgin Australia Airlines is closing its New Zealand bases permanently and around 550 flight and cabin crew have lost their jobs, Virgin Australia's chief operations officer Stuart Aggs confirmed. The E tu union said they are “hugely disappointed” in the decision, which will end employment of Virgin staff in New Zealand although the airline says it still plans to resume flying trans-Tasman routes once commercial passenger flights can resume between the two countries."Regrettably, we have made the difficult decision to close our New Zealand...
