An airline analyst says Air New Zealand is in retreat, facing stiff competition from United States carriers as it pauses its faltering Chicago route. The NZ stock exchange-listed (NZX) airline is pausing Chicago flights from March 31 until Oct 27 because of a lack of available serviceable Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines for its Boeing 787s. The airline is also halting its Seoul flights from April 1 and its flights to Hobart; those routes are a casualty of another engine issue with maintenance required on Pratt & Whitney engine...
