Genesis in talks with Foresta for major Huntly biofuels deal

Genesis Energy is negotiating a deal with Foresta to replace coal at Huntly Power Station with locally produced biofuels.It is the first time Genesis has signed a term sheet with a potential NZ biomass producer. The gentailer is looking for 300,000 tonnes a year of torrefied black pellets by the 2028 financial year.Foresta says it could make more than that once its planned factory is operational, although it is also looking to export its biofuel products.Genesis carried out a trial of torrefied biofuel in early 2023 using pellets imported from...
