Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Andrew Bayly is proposing a raft of changes to New Zealand’s capital markets regime, including assisting KiwiSaver funds in making direct investments and reducing the cost of listing on the NZ Exchange.Bayly said he wants to make it easier for KiwiSaver funds to invest in unlisted assets, including infrastructure.While no rules stop KiwiSaver funds from making direct investments, the KiwiSaver Act 2006 provides strong disincentives through requirements for managing and pricing assets. ‘...
