Meridian pushes go on $227m Ruakākā solar project

Meridian Energy has moved forward with its plan to build a 130-megawatt solar farm at Ruakākā, south of Whangārei.Construction of the $227 million farm, which on completion will be capable of powering half the homes in Northland, will start in August.The project had received a final investment decision and construction approval from the Meridian board, the company said.It will be Meridian’s first New Zealand solar farm.Chief executive Neal Barclay said the farm would benefit the energy system and Northland’s energy resilience.Read m...
