NZ sharemarket up 0.3%, Tower dominates trading

The New Zealand sharemarket went against the offshore trend for a long while, but it had a late turnaround to join its regional colleagues with a welcome gain. The S&P/NZX 50 Index reached an intraday low of 12,166.47 before recovering to close at 12,312.6, up 42.6 points or 0.35%. The index has now fallen nearly 6.1% for the year. Volumes were strong with 100.3 million share transactions worth $228.73m. The trading was dominated by Tower with 69m shares worth $89.75 million changing hands, mainly in a block sale by majority...
