SkyCity faces high bar in $330m legal battle against Fletcher Building over convention centre

SkyCity Entertainment faces a high bar to prove Fletcher Building was grossly negligent and delayed the handover of the fire-stricken New Zealand International Convention Centre, an analyst says. On June 6, SkyCity announced that it would file legal proceedings against the construction firm and was seeking $330 million in damages due to the delay in opening the centre. The NZ International Convention Centre (NZICC) has continually had its opening date pushed back, and SkyCity now expects to open the complex in February 2026. ...
