The S&P/NZX 50 Index dropped 1.1% or 131.612 points in early trading as global jitters continued to spread. Australia is poised to follow suit, with the ASX futures down 64 points to 0.8% early in Australia.On Wall Street, the S&P 500 dropped 3%, the Nasdaq sank 3.4% and the Dow Jones ended down 2.6%.
