Alliance beefs up processing capacity

Alliance Group is investing $4 million to lift its beef processing capacity in the South Island.The company will invest in its 18-month-old venison plant at Lorneville near Invercargill to enable the facility to also process cull cows during peak season.Chief executive David Surveyor said the investment is a key part of the cooperative’s beef growth strategy, with farmers seeking more processing capacity in peak season.The plant, which includes ovine processing, employs almost 2,000 people at peak capacity.The beef processing expansion at...
