The most optimistic forecast for the New Zealand economy is a contraction in gross domestic product of 5 percent for the year to March 2021, with the gloomiest predicting a drop of 11.8 percent, according to the latest consensus forecast by the NZ Institute of Economic Research.The forecasts reflect continued uncertainty over the country's growth outlook in the wake of the ongoing government response to the covid-19 pandemic, though the consensus outlook is for a V-shaped recovery for the next year.
