Food prices increased 1.2% in the year to September, up 0.8% on August, StatsNZ said today.Prices for restaurant and ready-to-eat meals contributed heavily, up by 3.5% a year.Increases in lunch and brunch meals, takeaway coffees and hamburgers also contributed.Grocery prices increased 2.7% in the year to September, driven by higher prices for olive oil, butter and chocolate biscuits.“The price for a 1-litre bottle of olive oil has increased by about 58% since this time last year, with an average price of $21.56,” StatsNZ consumer pr...
