The Government will spend more than $800 million on trains for the Wellington region.The investment will go towards a fleet of 18 four-car units, totalling 72 cars, doubling the peak services on both lines and additional off-peak services, saving 15 minutes of travel time for commuters between Wellington and Masterton.The $802.9m spend includes $455.4m of Crown funding and $347.5m from the National Land Transport Fund.The investment is part of the Lower North Island Rail Integrated Mobility Programme (LNIRIM), a major public transport project i...
