KiwiRail says around 650 essential workers – across transport, medical and agricultural export – have been able to travel between Picton and Wellington over the past fortnight.Chief executive Greg Miller said essential workers travelling on the Interislander ferries included truck drivers, alongside medical staff and primary industry workers, some of whom were relocating to take up short-term positions in hospitals and on orchards.“We’re also supporting our primary industries by moving seafood harvesters and fruit pickers between the islands.”A...
