Mercury plans to spend $287 million to build Northland's first windfarm.The 12 turbines in Kaiwaikawe will have a capacity of 77 megawatts (MW), enough to power about 27,000 homes with around 221 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity generated per year.The tower height of the turbines will be 125m, the rotor diameter 162m and the turbine tip height 206m. The farm will be located 12km northwest of Dargaville and 3km inland from the Tasman Sea. It will connect to Northpower’s substation near Dargaville via a 14km, 66kV transmiss...
