Unusually strong winds forced Air New Zealand’s direct New York-to-Auckland service to make an unscheduled stop in Fiji.The airline said flight NZ1 will refuel in Nadi: “a short stop in what we call a 'gas and go'”.The direct route, which is roughly 18 hours long, launched last weekend and tonight’s flight is only the third service since it started.Air NZ chief operational integrity and safety officer David Morgan said all 210 customers were advised of the delay prior to departure and the airline was working to r...
