NZ dollar falls as US economy grows more than expected
By Paul McBeth Dec. 24 (BusinessDesk) - The New Zealand dollar fell after data showed the US economy grew more than expected in the third quarter, stoking demand for the greenback on heightened expectations the Federal Reserve will start hiking interest rates. The kiwi fell to 77.02 US cents at 8am in Wellington from 77.37 cents yesterday. The trade-weighted index declined to 78.41 from 78.60.
