New Zealand will ban live animal exports by sea by 2023 after a lengthy review, a move that has been met with mixed reactions. “We must stay ahead of the curve in a world where animal welfare is under increasing scrutiny,” said agriculture minister Damien O’Connor.According to O’Connor, the two-year transition will allow affected businesses the time to wind down the trade and adjust their operations.
