Since the release of the Commerce Commission’s final report into the level of competition in the supermarket sector, much has been said about those recommendations relating to the liberation of planning laws, ending restrictive covenants over retail land, and pricing practices.But less has been said about some of the commission’s other suggestions, namely recommendations 4 and 8, which point to broader legislative reform through the Overseas Investment Act and Fair Trading Acts respectively.Yet with both recently undergoing consider...
