Each week, BusinessDesk and the NZ Herald’s Cooking the Books podcast tackles a different money problem. Today, it’s how a bit of personal marketing can land you the dream job. Hosted by Frances Cook.

It’s never been more needed, but more difficult to get a pay rise.

The cost of living is shooting up, making it difficult for many people to pay the bills. But the economy is also fairly rough, and businesses aren’t handing out fat pay packets just because you ask nicely.

That doesn’t mean it’s impossible, though.

Often, you know that you have the skills, the work ethic, and the results to justify being paid well.

The problem is communicating that to the people in charge of the purse strings.

For the latest podcast, I talked to Rosie McCarthy, founder and chief executive of Badass Careers.
